Job Title: Security Engineer.

Location: Jackson, MS.

Duration: Long Term Contract

Responsibilities:

The primary focus of this role is the management of the State’s Next-Generation Intrusion Prevention Systems with additional focus on a variety of areas on the security team.

Below are the list job functions:
  • Support ITS project managers, agency staff, and ITS management with time, expertise, and reporting as needed.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversight of hosted solutions for vulnerability/compliance scanning
  • Providing ad hoc security reports of security compliance requirements
  • Participating with project managers/analysts on special projects as needed
  • Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats
  • Recommend and help design security architecture elements to mitigate threats as they emerge
  • Recommend solutions that balance business requirements with information and cyber security requirements
  • Work with ITS staff to identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements
  • Provides technical support for network hardware, software, security and operational issues in a timely and customer-friendly manner
  • Manage, track, report and oversee the remediation of all Security Operation related vulnerabilities
  • Oversee the management of Participate in security functions including security compliance and business controls projects (SOX, HIPAA, etc.) and vulnerability assessments related to the Security Operations group
  • Communicate directly with ITS staff in a prompt, accurate, and professional manner
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Required Skills/Experience
  • Next-Generation Intrusion Prevention System (NGIPS) Sourcefire Firepower experience
  • Understanding of application-level security topics (Malware, Zero-day, vulnerabilities, encryption, etc.)
  • Experience with vulnerability/risk assessment tools and technologies
  • Networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN)

Preferred/Not Required
  • IT, networking, and cybersecurity professional certifications
  • Cisco ASA firewall experience
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) experience and upgrade management
  • RSA SecurID Authentication management
