The Shift Supervisor for the inbound warehouse oversees the daily operations of receiving and processing incoming shipments. This role includes managing a team of warehouse associates, ensuring that all products are handled efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company policies. The supervisor will coordinate with various departments to optimize workflow, monitor inventory levels, and maintain accurate records of incoming stock.Reviews inbound purchase orders, advance ship notices (ASNs), bills of lading, and receiving documentation to determine receiving priorities, work assignments, and methods required to meet inbound schedules, utilizing knowledge of receiving procedures and inventory systemsOversees all inbound receiving activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of incoming shipmentsDetermines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out the position of shipmentDetermines staging and put-away locations for inbound freight and coordinates efficient product flow from the receiving dock to storage areasInspects unloading operations to ensure compliance with inbound receiving specifications and company standardsInspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facilities for repairDirects movement of inbound shipments from the receiving dock to staging, storage, and reserve areasIssues written and oral instructions to receiving associates to ensure daily workload completionStudies and standardizes receiving procedures to improve efficiency and throughput of subordinatesMaintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances in a timely and professional mannerPrepares composite performance and productivity reports from individual associate dataIdentifies and resolves receiving discrepancies, overages, shortages, and damaged freightUnderstands and applies Company policies and procedures consistently across the teamMaintains good housekeeping in the inbound area and adheres to established Company safety policies at all timesResponsible for the adherence and execution of standardized inbound receiving proceduresResponsible for the correction and accuracy of all work performed under their supervisionMonitors and tracks key inbound metrics, including units per hour (UPH), dock-to-stock time, and receiving accuracyCoordinates with the inventory control team to ensure proper reconciliation of received purchase ordersCommunicates inbound volume, staffing needs, and operational challenges to the Inbound ManagerServes as an example to subordinates and enforces all applicable safety rulesSAP and RF scanner experience required
