Applications may be rejected if incomplete.For further information about this vacancy contact:Louisiana Veterans Home HRCharline Hills/charline.hills@la.gov Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A baccalaureate degree.SUBSTITUTIONS:Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces. Service must have been on an active full time basis.NOTE:Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.Job ConceptsFunction of Work:To counsel veterans and their dependents in obtaining health, employment, educational, and fiscal benefits.Level of Work:Entry.Supervision Received:Close from a Veterans Assistance Counselor Supervisor, or Veterans Assistance Regional Manager.Supervision Exercised:May have direct-line supervision over clerical employees.Location of Work:Department of Veterans Affairs, parish offices.Job Distinctions:Differs from Veterans Assistance Counselor 2 by the level of work performed and by the supervision received.Examples of WorkServes as an office manager trainee in a parish office counseling veterans concerning their legal benefits under state and federal laws. May assist higher ranking officers in conducting programs.Functions in a public relations capacity in a parish for the Department of Veterans Affairs.Assists veterans and their dependents in completing a variety of forms to actuate their benefits.Reviews benefit claims when processed to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.Provides assistance to veterans such as admissions to U. S.
