Experienced Aerodynamics Engineer - Air Data Primary Location - MO Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs aerodynamic design and analysis of flight vehicles to ensure that the vehicle meets requirements.
  • Conducts, coordinates and/or develops test requirements to meet test objectives using established processes.
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Develops solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions.
  • Receives general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects.
  • Interacts frequently with inter-organizational personnel and external customers. Represents the organization by providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Key contributor to developing new and improving existing technologies, tools and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance and reduce cycle time and cost.
  • Assesses the impact of proposed regulations to determine the effect on cost, performance, producibility, maintainability and safety.
  • Supports certification and qualification processes of the aerodynamic characteristics of flight vehicles.
  • Assists in training others.

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a [Secret / Top Secret] DoD security clearance Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience in Aerodynamics Engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Active U.S. Security Clearance highly preferred
  • Experience with air data system fundamentals, analyses, development, and qualification.
  • Knowledge of source error correction and inverse source error correction processes.
  • Familiar with reduced vertical separation minimums [RVSM] requirements and methods of compliance.
  • Flight test and flight test data analysis experience
  • Experience with aerodynamic analysis principles, processes, methods, and tools for flight vehicles.
  • Experience with certification and/or qualification processes and procedures, including general knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements.
Typical Education/Experience: Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Shift: This position is for 1st shift.
