Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join the Quality Team located in Multiple Locations.This position will lead development & application of AS9145 / Advanced Product Quality Planning in the Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) Supply base.This is a hybrid position with required travel to support on-site work at supplier and/or Boeing facilities.The selected candidate will be required to travel to/from different suppliers and job sites as needed. Travel will be required on an as-needed basis, which will include overnight travel as requested by management to support the business need.Position Responsibilities:
Lead Preventive Quality projects in the supply base including: Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Operational Risk & Capability Assessments and Technical Readiness Reviews
Leads stakeholders in analysis of product & process data, develop and implement preventive actions to ensure delivery of products that meet customer requirements.
Document work status and effectively communicate project status to senior management.
Ability to travel up to 40%, primarily within the (Midwest, East and Northeast US) or (Mountain and West US states)).
Leads / assists teams to use APQP methods & tools on projects with suppliers
Lead Advanced Quality events/activities with the supply base to ensure that supplier’s production and quality systems, products, and services meet purchase contract requirements, and applicable regulatory and government regulations including: Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Operational Risk & Capability Assessments, Requirements Consumption Reviews, and Process/product specific audits-assessments
Provides interpretation of complex requirements.
Will be using strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Develops and implements preventative actions.
Works under minimal direction
This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years experience leading and executing Advance Product Quality Planning Activities (APQP)
3+ years experience in process engineering, process deployment, APQP (advanced product quality planning), and/or OPD (operational productivity delivery)
Experience with reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematic and diagrams
Experience developing and managing strong relationships with partners (internal & external), and suppliers
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Level 3: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Experience leading a multi-disciplined team including internal customers and suppliers
Ability to interpret GD&T, read blue prints and digital product definition models
Six Sigma (MBB, BB, GB) and/ or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certification
Familiarity with Defense & Space products
Proficiency in Project Management
Experience in a wide range of product categories and/or commodities (i.e. mechanical, electrical, assemblies, systems etc.)
Experience in technical training and/or coaching
Experience working with Quality Standards in the Aviation Industry such as AS9100, AS9145, AS6500
Proficiency in the use of advanced quality tools such as Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, PFMEA, Measurement System Analysis, and Manufacturing Process Capability Assessments.
