LOCATION: Remote U.S. locationsOVERVIEWYou will apply your knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts and applies general knowledge of business and industry practices with content management and publishing. You will carry out various editorial processes for Medical and Nursing books under the instruction and direction of senior staff.You are the main contact for internal and external customers managing the schedule from submission to publication to address project needs based on real-time metrics and liaises with vendors to ensure quality and delivery standards on projects of limited scope and complexity. Your focus areas include coordinating activities of project team, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure completion of projects. You should be familiar with scope and project objectives and to the role and function of each team member to coordinate the activities of the team. You will report to the Manager, Editorial Coordinators for Books.RESPONSIBILITIES

Prioritize and perform routine assignments using established policies and procedures.

Manage review process for manuscripts from proposal through final publication, ensuring submissions are received, managing scheduling requirements and adhering to established turnaround times.

Apply knowledge of business processes to ensure author submissions are complete and include all required ancillary materials including copyright transfers, permissions, and figure files. Provide follow-up on any missing materials and escalate delays.

Determine copyright and permissions rules are adhered to for all submission items and direct others for full compliance, which can include setting up a permissions vendor or coordinator for a project.

Advise authors, editors, and reviewers with use of content management system. Address queries and troubleshoot problems.

Work with outside vendors for editorial processing of manuscripts, and production workflow. Evaluate work done by vendor, including documenting errors and addressing improvements with the vendor as well as identify new opportunities for outsourcing.

Update high-level Front List reports with status information about assigned titles, schedule/participate in/conduct regular meetings with vendors, acquisitions, and development to monitor performance and resolve schedule issues that could affect revenue.

Liaise with production team, authors, and editors to ensure deadlines are met.

Participate in the ongoing development, documentation, and execution of policies and procedures for the Content Management and vendor teams to ensure excellent quality n providing editorial process support to LWW’s publishing customers (society and proprietary).

Participate in initiatives and program reviews to streamline processing and increase efficiency across the department.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation: bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, Communication, English or a related discipline; or equivalent experienceExperience:

1+ year in a customer facing position related to the editorial coordination job duties described.

Preferred Experience:

2+ years of editorial experience

Experience with a web-based content management system

Basic project management skills

Academic or scholarly publishing background
