Established in 1983, the department has been reviewing, approving and monitoring every investment product and services available at Edward Jones for 40 years.And while many tried and true practices remain as important as they were 4 decades ago, data analytics are playing an increasingly important role in fulfilling that mission. Product Review is seeking talented and experienced Data & BI Analyst to help drive the continued evolution of our analytics capabilities across the department. In this role, the Data & BI Analyst will be instrumental in the formulation, implementation and adoption of our evolving analytical approach aimed at enabling more data driven decisions by our investment research analysts.What You'll Do: The Data & BI Analyst II is responsible for providing for providing actionable insights to support investment and business decisions. 3-5 years' experience in relevant field

At least 2 years of analytics experience

Education:

Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in business, economics, math, engineering, or analytics preferred (or relevant work experience)

Advanced Degree or Certification preferred

Functional Knowledge:

Requires conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within a job discipline

Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities

Proficiency interacting with various database and file storage systems (e.g. Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL)

Understanding of join types

Experience with data manipulation languages, such as SQL, required

Business Expertise:

Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience

Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work

Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

Leadership:

Accountable for own contributions Provides informal guidance to new team members

Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements; may coach, mentor, or provide guidance within or across teams

Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, independently organize, plan & prioritize individual effort needed to ensure overall success of cross-functional projects. Occasionally lead cross-functional teams responsible for divisional objectives or assist with the onboarding of other data analysts

Problem Solving:

Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems; analyzes information and standard practices to make judgments

Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents

Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

Ability to identify the question(s), what data is needed, analyze and interpret the results to recommend solutions to senior & executive division leaders for a broad spectrum of business improvement opportunities in a clear and concise manner. Execute on projects of a moderate complexity which involve cross-functional teams, collaborate well with associates and leadership throughout the division (and potentially firm leadership and/or external vendors)

Has limited impact on own work team; works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines; Ability to accurately assess risk and prioritize work

Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team; works within guidelines and policies; Identify, assess and mitigate low to moderate risks that would impact the department

Develops and performs moderately complex analysis, typically with moderate business impact. Works with leaders throughout the firm, providing analytical guidance to directly influence business decisions. While there are no direct supervisory responsibilities, coordinating with others to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines will be required, and may be asked to occasionally mentor and train other associates on the team. Influence decision making, by gaining a deep understanding of inter-departments/divisions interactions the impact on firm operations and initiatives

Interpersonal Skills:

Exchanges straightforward information, asks questions and checks for understanding

Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations
