Role: Data Analyst Duration: 6-12 months Location: Kansas City, MO Onsite 3 days a week Job Description: The Data Analyst will be instrumental in working with both technical and business stakeholders in the delivery of information and analytics solutions for the Credit Union. This position will define functional and system-level requirements, source to target mappings, use cases, business rules, metadata definitions, and data testing strategies for data-driven solutions. This position will have the skill set to analyze and interpret complex sets of data, with a close understanding of overall business processes and objectives. Responsibilities:

  • Documentation of the current processes
  • Data flow process around their DW.
  • Solidify the requirements around the data load.
  • Gathering data requirements
  • Working with other business units to get the correct requirements and documentation.
  • Involved in some QA aspects related to data validation
  • Implementing a new core banking system to replace the current old system.
  • Mapping data from the old system to the new.
  • Documentation and querying of data;
  • Supporting the dev team to vet out data cleansing rules, etc. - doing data validation for the business units; making sure the mappings are correct, helping automate validations where possible - using SQL scripts.
  • The Client is using both PL/SQL and T-SQL - he doesn't have a preference on which one someone has experience with since the primary difference is syntax.
  • There are also 15 systems that feed the DW so this will need analysis and mapping in the future too.
  • Working with SQL queries and some complex SQL. This is a SQL-based environment and they do ETL with SSIS so this would be nice to have. The future state of their DW will be cloud-based in Azure. This would be nice to have but not required.
  • Ability to understand & write complex T-SQL
  • This role will be reviewing quite a bit of existing SQL. They will also be helping with writing development requirements related to our Data Warehouse - Ability to analyze data and articulate results in a clear, concise manner
  • Similar to the above, they'll be involved with analysis and requirements.
  • This person will be working directly with the business to help with analysis, requirements, data mapping, & documentation - Understanding of Data Warehouse ETL patterns and processes.
  • The ability to review SSIS, Python, and/or Databricks is a bonus .
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Consult with departments across the company to understand, document, and analyze business requirements that drive the development and design of reports/dashboards, the system feeds, and/or analyses. Keep current with the direction of the business and the needs of internal customers. Work with team members to translate requirements into technical specifications Translate existing processes into logical and technical diagrams Develop test strategies, test cases, and tests to be executed against the database and/or data using SQL and other methods. Documents requirements, scope, and objectives, and formulates solutions that parallel our overall business strategies Provide consultative support and technical guidance to a line of business functional analysts in their data analysis efforts Identify, analyze, and document defects or other anomalies discovered in the data, either in the source systems or within the warehouse. Partner with internal departments to understand drivers of trends and the impact of business changes Key participant in the data governance process Participate in sprint planning and workstream estimation and prioritization Observe the highest level of confidentiality when dealing with member accounts or personal information and credit union records. Promotes honest and open communication throughout the credit union. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Strong ability to understand and write complex T-SQL Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to analyze data and articulate results in a clear, concise manner Understanding of Data Warehouse ETL load patterns and processes Must be able to manage multiple tasks, establish priorities, organize information as well as analyze and initiate activities Ability to function effectively as a team member in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment Additional positive abilities (not required): PL/SQL (Oracle) SSIS SSRS Spark Python Databricks Azure Data Factory Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of industry-related professional experience and education
