SummaryThe Data Engineer III will work with the Data Group, which is about a year old and is developing a greenfield enterprise data warehouse using MongoDB, Python, and R including reporting using Tableau and R Shiny. The team also supports a number of systems for the current environment, which is PostgreSQL, SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS (the team gets support requests to investigate and fix). This role will be responsible for maintaining/upgrading SSIS packages and possibly rewriting them in Python. We are looking for a team player because we have a growing team and need people who can work well with others and contribute to a great team environment. This is a hybrid (WFH/Remote) role; people in the Data Group WFH 1-3 days per week. There are certain group meetings we wish to be on-site (we feel being on-site some of the time allows for group cohesion and learning about the others on the team).

Responsibilities
  • Transform data into a format that can be analyzed easily, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability.
  • Build high-performance ETL processes, algorithms, and prototypes for data modeling, mining, and production.
  • Develop data set processes for data modeling, mining, and production.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet both functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements including automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Maintain proper documentation and adhere to change management processes, as well as performing ongoing quality assurance for all business-impacting processes.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Software Engineering or Computer Science; or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience building processes that support data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  • Advanced knowledge of, and at least 5 years of working experience with relational databases; writing queries for a variety of databases.
  • A successful history of manipulating and processing large, disconnected datasets.
  • Experience with multiple database technologies: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, R, etc.
  • Experience with data files in JSON and XML.
  • Experience implementing and documenting data models and schema for new database structures and applications including implementing measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology and its value to business.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with SQL (SSIS), Python.

Preferred
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Agile Development, Kimball Data Modeling, SSRS, and Tableau.
  • Help Desk experience.
