Telesis7 is currently hiring a Data Governance Manager. This position is located in St Louis, MO and 100% onsite.
JOB SUMMARY This position is an integral part of the Business Intelligence Data Governance team that will plan, design, and implement the data governance framework. This role will be responsible for establishing, enhancing and managing best practices, processes, and tools related to Data Governance and will report to Sr. Director, BI Data Governance and Strategy. This is a high visibility role and requires cross functional leadership with stakeholders and partners within Business Intelligence and across the organization. This role is equal parts strategy and technical execution and requires experience creating frameworks, designs and initiatives, and proving them out. The candidate should be an expert and have prior experience with working in a large scale data warehouse/BI environment having implemented reporting solutions with a solid understanding of business needs. The candidate should be a self starter driving initiatives from ideation through to completion, influencing stakeholders, and communicating at both a working level and an executive level. The Manager, BI Data Governance will work across Business Intelligence, IT, Procurement, and internal customers in the business units across the following work streams:- Corporate Data Assets Governance
- Business Intelligence Data Access & Audit
- BI Environment Process Governance
- Build a governance framework to keep company data secure, conduct periodic automated audits, e.g. define operating models, RACI, and implement workflows to proactively report on discrepancies
- Evaluate requests to understand business unit reporting requirements and coordinate discussions with multiple technical and business organizations to ensure right tools and solution is provided
- Implement best practices, repeatable processes, and governance standards related to Data Management and Software Development Life Cycle
- Build ETL processes and front-end applications to manage integrity and accuracy of users access to data
- Build automated reporting solutions for extracting data and auditing
- Perform data profiling to ensure accuracy of data and reporting
- Develop a governance-specific change control structure, and define metrics and processes to continuously monitor and track effectiveness of process improvements and software development lifecycle
- Develop data models in support of data warehouse enhancements for enforcing data governance principles (data retention, security, metadata, etc) in collaboration with Business Intelligence Architects and Database Administrators.
- Use SQL for managing data in Teradata and Snowflake. Develop SQL to implement ETL job steps using ETL tools and Python scripting
- Analyze and extract relevant data using SQL and ETL processes from large data sets to produce audits in support of Charter's legal data policies and enforcing new Data Governance principles. Perform remediation tasks on audit findings and implement long term resolutions.
- Build out supporting documentation and reference materials related to frameworks and metrics
- Develop presentations and deliverables for communication to leadership and peers
- Develop partnerships with internal and external groups to gather feedback, collaborate on initiatives, and influence planning and decision making
- Advocate Data Governance for ensuring Charter data is secured and access is monitored across Teradata, Hadoop and MicroStrategy environments in support of all business functions such as Customer Operations, Field Operations, Marketing and Sales
- Partner with BI Architecture to implement the data catalog, data dictionary, and other data governance related tools
- Identify and manage risks/issues within the scope of Data Governance work streams
- Liaise across BI vertical teams and BI Technology Teams to project manage and ensure execution of Data Governance initiatives
- Automate controls using and processes where possible
- Solid knowledge of data governance methodologies, principles, tools, and best practices
- Experience in supporting legal, data security and auditing requirements using data analysis and ETL skills
- Exceptional listening, written and verbal communication skills
- Proven experience influencing and leading projects in a cross functional environment
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel
- Strong ability to distill complex technical concepts to business leaders, and transpose business requests to technical requirements and vice versa
- Understanding of business uses of data for reporting and analytics
- Functional and technical experience in a large scale data environment, e.g. developing business requirements, mapping out process flows, ETL, Automation, Auditing, Testing
- Experience with/knowledge of SQL databases, dimensional and relational data models, BI reporting tools and data integration tools/methodologies
- Strategic perspective, sound business judgment, and a collaborative work style
- Excellent project management and presentation skills
- Detail orientated/articulate with strong time management and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
- Knowledge of Cable/Telecom products and services
