DescriptionThe Vanguard 2.2.1 program currently has an opening for a DevOps Tester / Quality Assurance Lead supporting the Department of State (DoS) Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM).Vanguard 2.2.1 currently provides systems engineering and operations capabilities to IRM. Vanguard 2.2.1 is building out a new DevOps team intended to leverage the benefits of DevOps and create or improve system-to-system interfaces including data transfers (ETL), and also identify operational procedures which could benefit from automation.We are looking for a qualified person to join a new team dedicated to this effort. The successful candidate will be able to work with the team leader, developers, customers, and SMEs from several engineering teams to: identify testing requirements for new automation, perform and document testing, manage testing environments and data sets, contribute to solution design, and contribute to lifecycle documentation.The position may allow temporary hybrid remote work due to Covid-19. Position may be called back onsite at any time at the customer's request.Description of Duties

The candidate must be able to perform testing and quality assurance activities which include:

Working with development team to contribute to requirements gathering, quality coding (including code reviews), creation of test cases.

Prepare test data, run and document tests, create test reports.

Prepare test plan, execute tests, and produce test results documents.

Make suggestions for troubleshooting issues.

Provide QA risk mitigation strategies and QA oversight for design, development, and deployment.

Provide input to Team Lead for risk mitigation and quality assurance purposes to be included in a software lifecycle management processes and documentation.

Development and maintenance of automated test scripts.

Constantly be an advocate for quality and risk mitigation.

QualificationsRequired Education, Skills, & Experience

BS Degree in computer science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related majors and at least 5 years of experience in formal software testing. May accept additional experience in lieu of degree.

Prior experience testing automated ETL processes and validating data inputs and output.

Strong understanding of Data modeling concepts.

Strong SQL capabilities and experience with SQL Server.

Experience using defect tracking systems such as Jira or ClearQuest.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Strong documentation and presentation skills.

The ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.

Prior experience in C#, Java, Javascript, or Powershell programming a plus.

Experience working on Windows and Linux servers.

Experience articulating test strategy and risk mitigation built into test plans to technical staff and management.

Travel

Must be willing to travel within the Washington, DC Metro area to support various program initiatives and support a rotational on-call posture after normal working hours in response to technical support requests.

Required Clearance

US Citizenship

Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance

Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance highly preferred

Must obtain an interim clearance to start work.
