QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
Ability to demonstrate a good safety record
Strong interpersonal communication and relationship building skills and ability to establish and maintain positive, productive working relationships with internal team members, staff, agencies, contractors and the public
Demonstrated expertise in interpreting and understanding federal and state environmental policy, regulations and permitting
Demonstrated technical writing and project management skills
Must have good computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office and ESRI - ARCGIS products
Ability to travel and be in an outdoor environment up to 20-40% of the time; overnight travel required up to 20% of the time
Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 35 pounds
Ability to pass a background check
Five years of experience in environmental permitting of energy supply and delivery facilities preferred
Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering or an environmental science (such as wildlife biology, agriculture, forestry, soil science, etc) or related field preferred
Environmental experience conducting biological assessments, plant surveys, wetland delineations, rare and endangered species surveys, environmental monitoring and preparing NEPA documents is a plus
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Provide technical expertise for environmental permitting, reporting and project siting activities
Prepare environmental permitting and compliance documentation
Interpret environmental permitting requirements and analyze project impacts
Coordinate with public and agency contacts including involvement in public meetings
Coordinate internal training on environmental permitting requirements
Coordinate internal and external resources and contractors as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
Coordinate and evaluate Environmental Impact Statements and related activities
Manage Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program including, prepare, administer and conduct inspections for projects requiring permit coverage
Manage the underground storage tank program ensuring compliance inspections are completed in the required time frame and employees are trained to perform the required duties
Complete annual environmental reporting for Tier II
Conduct soil, water, air, building materials, pipe sampling to ensure compliance with regulations
Adhere to company safety standards
Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives
Full-time position.$54,000 - $108,200 annually, depending on experience.
