Reports to Information Services Supervisor
Wage: $19.51 per hour
There will be hours worked in both the Information and Reference Services department and the Central Technology Center.
Position open until filled
Provides reference, information, community referral and electronic assistance with unique attention paid to patrons' diverse needs.
Provides responses to reference queries in person, on the telephone, and on-line.
Assists customers in the use of online resources.
Recommends and retrieves materials in support of customer requests.
Assists customers in their use of library computers, copying machines and printers, makes adjustments, and calls for service when necessary.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable working collaboratively with others
Ability to learn the use of varied reference sources, including electronic sources
Excellent customer service skills with an interest in, comfort with, and a genuine desire to serve and engage with people of all abilities and backgrounds.
Intermediate computer skills with the ability to help our customers with technology and device troubleshooting
The ability to speak and understand English is required. Additional consideration may be given to individuals that are fluent in any non-English languages spoken in the Kansas City area including Somali, Swahili, Spanish, Arabic, French, Dari, Pashto, and Vietnamese.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience. This qualification can also be met by an equivalent combination of education, work experience, and life experiences.
Mon 3pm – 7pm
Tue 3pm – 7pm
Wed 3pm – 7pm
Sat 9am – 1pm
