The Montana Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for an Invasive Species Education Coordinator. Applicants from the Bozeman, Billings, Missoula, Great Falls and Helena areas will be considered. First review of candidates will be April 26, 2024. Position is open until filled. The Montana Department of Agriculture is serving Montana Agriculture and growing prosperity under the Big Sky. Job Overview: The Montana Invasive Species Education Campaign provides education to Montana residents and visitors about the economic and environmental impacts of invasive species while encouraging the public to act and prevent invasive species introduction and spread. The Campaign is provided support and direction from a steering committee made of a diverse group of stakeholders. The successful candidate will serve as the coordinator for the Campaign and support statewide educational activities in partnership with agencies and organizations working on invasive species in Montana. Position responsibilities include coordinating Campaign activities, projects and events, administration of the steering committee, assessing the effectiveness and impacts of campaign activities, securing funding for projects through grants and donations, attending and hosting educational events that aim to provide awareness to various interest groups, and strengthening the campaign by seeking agencies and organizations who are not current partners. In addition, position responsibilities also includedevelopment and delivery of products that aim to educate a wide range of audiences on invasive species, including county weed programs, private land stewards, recreationists, school-aged kids, real estate professionals, and the public. Products may include brochures, billboards, advertisements, public service announcements, social media posts, and program curricula. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education, science, natural resources, or related field. Two years of job-related experience. Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted. Preferred: Experience teaching moderate size groups in various levels from school age to adults. Experience creating and/or using curriculum based on approved standards. Experience using TEAMS, Zoom, or other similar programs to host webinars or meetings. Knowledge of Montana laws regarding invasive species.
