The primary responsibility of the Business Analyst is to manage the overall process of gathering functional and system requirements, in the implementation of new software and hardware, from both internal and external sources. This person acts as a liaison between the functional department, outside vendors and the IT team. The Business Analyst conducts application testing of system functionality and interfaces. They also provide technical support for resolving operational issues and answering questions that cannot be addressed by departmentally based resources. The Business Analyst provides in depth knowledge on software, hardware, and related technologies that are implemented and they ensure that the technology is properly utilized within the organization, and furnishes the greatest potential benefit.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Facilitates the overall process of gathering functional and system requirements on new software and hardware systems. This includes meeting with user departments to sort through and determine critical features and functions necessary to meet their requirements. Evaluates the implementation of features and functions from both 3rd party software and in-house developed systems. Makes recommendations based on user requirements, product functionality, systems integration, and business process definitions.
  • Maintains working knowledge of departmental functions with user areas being supported by information systems. Understands key business process flows and can make recommendations for change. Guide stakeholders on the use of available data and reporting tools to facilitate data-driven business decisions.
  • Builds coalitions of resources from both IT and user departments to ensure a successful implementation of new applications and technologies. Provides working knowledge and continued support for software and related technologies implemented throughout the organization. Serves as technical support for resolving issues and questions. This includes the on-going assurance that implemented solutions are exploited to deliver the greatest potential benefit.
  • Demonstrates proactive, effective communication skills including excellent written, verbal and presentations skills; provides verbal and written status reports, manages meetings, and facilitates requirements problem solving. Demonstrates effective negotiation skills with team members, users, vendors, and management.
  • Stays abreast of vendor strategies and product direction as it relates to industry trends and internal organizational direction and requirements. Fosters a cooperative and productive relationship with vendors. Maintains frequent and clear communication with all parties

Requirements & Responsibilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or closely related field is required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of business experience in Information Technology. Strong background in the implementation and support of technology is required.
  • Previous experience working with business processes in a retail environment is preferred

Additional Skills Needed:
  • Strong background in computers and technology
  • Experience in data analysis and enterprise reporting tools
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Solid testing and quality assurance background involving system, integration, and user acceptance testing
  • Must be a self-starter with the initiative to learn new products and follow through on projects
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to work with all levels of users and management
  • Applicant must also have the ability to coordinate their efforts with others both inside and out of the department
