About the Opportunity:

The Capacity Management team has an immediate opening for an experienced Infrastructure Capacity Planner - Storage. Our team's role is to deliver infrastructure Capacity recommendations, analysis, and reporting to Business areas throughout the Federal Reserve system with a focus on Dependability, Optimization, and improved Elasticity for the Federal Reserve's Information infrastructure.

Expectations:
  • Hands on expertise - infrastructure capacity management and planning for Storage (SAN/NAS/Object/DASD) plus or more capacity specialties:
    • Compute (Virtualized Windows/Linux/AIX)
    • Backup and Recovery Solutions
    • Network
  • Familiarity with multiple storage vendors and their methods for reporting capacity across their product lines - i.e., impact of compression and deduplication on capacity reporting
  • Experience with these vendors preferred; Hitachi Vantara, Dell/EMC, Commvault, and Cohesity
  • Ability to manage capacity in large disparate environments, critical cross-organizational programs
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a customer-focused attitude
  • Able to identify key capacity metrics associated workloads and translate that data across various levels of experience or roles
  • Develop and help execute continual improvement ideologies throughout the capacity space
  • Engages and builds trust with customer, application owner, and engineering to help understand future capacity needs and identify optimization opportunities
  • Experience recommending optimal capacity thresholds across various product solutions
  • Experience with hardware vendors and standard procurement processes
  • Familiarity with AI / ML, Splunk, and modern programming practices
  • Experience with Tableau or equivalent BI tool with experience developing actionable dashboards that are consumable across various consumers
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Ability to use data to tell an accurate story based on business or technical requirements
  • Strong analytical and logic skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Able to build strong cross-functional relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects based on business impact
  • Proven ability to work productively and efficiently in an independent setting

Qualifications:

Experience / Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Strong statistics and mathematical knowledge
  • Experience building BI solutions

Critical skills include:
  • Storage Capacity Planning expertise using key capacity and performance metrics
  • Cloud experience (AWS / Azure) a plus
  • R / Python / SAS
