Responsibilities will include: Stocking, food handling, cleaning and helping customers - all general aspects of maintaining the department Representing our quality products with expertise and enthusiasm Learning about meat products and communicating your knowledge to customers Promoting our products via suggestive selling techniques Working with department equipment such as grinders, scales, slicers and knives; no big, scary meat saws (they scare us, too) Making sure meat cases are well-stocked and look showroom-worthy-after all, it's Dierbergs, and our customers have fine taste Why Dierbergs is different Unlike the restaurant businesses, there are no late nights here; you'll generally work no later than 9pm. No experience required! If you're willing to learn, we're willing to train you. We're friendly and customer-focused, and we're known for treating each other like family. We offer the opportunity to cross-train as a Deli/Seafood Clerk, as well as potential to advance to Assistant Meat Manager, Meat Manager or a Store Manager. What you need to succeed A friendly, "customers-first" attitude to provide best-in-class service that Dierbergs is known for Basic math and computer skills Ability to work in varied temperature-controlled environments (refrigerator and freezer) Ability to follow safety and food-handling guidelines and keep your work area safe and clean Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays Physical Requirements Lifting & Carrying - Up to 90 lbs occasionally & 40 lbs frequently Pushing & Pulling- Up to 50 lbs of force occasionally Occasional - Sit, kneel, stoop, squat, climb, overhead reach & power grip Frequent - Stand, walk, head turn, side reach, grasp, pinch, finger manipulation & feel Constant - Handling & forward reach What's in it for you?
