CSD proudly provides Montana State University students with not only a repertoire of various cuisines, cooking styles, and flavors, but a comfortable atmosphere to meet friends, study, and simply relax. The division is comprised of 2 residential dining halls, a commissary kitchen, several retail operations including 4 coffee shops, Chick-fil-A, the Union Market and Bobcat Grill, Brick Breeden Fieldhouse and Bobcat Stadium Concessions, Fork in the Road food truck, MSU Catering, Indulge In-House Bakery, and the Farm to Campus Program.Duties and Responsibilities Under general supervision of the management staff, the Packaging Supervisor is responsible for all the proper labeling and packaging of all items leaving the bakery.

Actively leads the day to day activities of the labeling and packaging area while ensuring requirements and compliance with policies/procedures.

Reviews all production sheets

Produces labels

Schedules packaging production

Performs regular quality control checks on outbound product

Pay special attention to allergen protocols

Responsible for finished product inventory

Ensures equipment is functioning correctly and alerts management to any maintenance needs

Leads the labeling and packaging team of students and temporary workers. Trains staff and ensures they are following departmental procedures and techniques.

Ensures production is ready for shipping to meet deadlines.

Regular cleaning of equipment and surrounding areas.

Interacts with the Health Inspector to ensure all sanitation guidelines are being followed.

Acts as a baker as needed to assist with all types of baked goods and desserts including, cake doughnut products, cookies, cakes, breakfast items, etc. Operates large-scale bakery equipment such as mixers, scales, Hobart attachments, and ovens.

And contributes to the success of the department as an active member of the team while performing other duties as needed in support of the department’s mission.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Progressively responsible experience working in high-volume food production and/or a high volume bakery producing a wide variety of products or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience leading a team.

Experience operating commercial bakery equipment and/or other food service equipment.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Food labeling and/or packaging experience.

Possess an 4 hour management sanitation certification or have the ability to become certified.

Must have the ability to understand and communicate in English with adequate proficiency to follow directions from supervisor, read and understand safety guidelines and directions to prevent accidents or injuries from occurring, and communicate effectively with customers (staff, visitors, students) by listening and speaking clearly to them.

Frequently moving and placing containers/items weighing up to 50 lbs and occasionally 75lbs.

Bending, kneeling, stretching and general moving about while stocking products.

Gripping handles on small kitchen utensils and other equipment.

Performing repetitive motions related to job duties.

Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals.
