Responsibilities Include
Area of Emphasis: General child clinical and/or pediatric psychology outpatient consults and treatment, multidisciplinary clinics, inpatient consults with brief therapeutic interventions dependent on service line need and provider expertise
Conduct diagnostic interviews and provide evidence-based psychological interventions to children and adolescents
Provides inpatient consult coverage per provider rotation requirements
Refers patients to other disciplines for consults and evaluations as indicated
Assesses a patient's psychological status and provides evidenced based assessment and intervention
Provides a continuum of short- and long-term psychotherapy to individuals and groups, based on individualized treatment plans
Collaborates with medical services to provide appropriate psychological intervention for patients
Provides psychological expertise and education to multidisciplinary team members and medical providers and residents
Provides oversight/supervision of post-doctoral fellows and psychology interns
Carries out ongoing record keeping and case review of all psychotherapy work in compliance with institutional and state guidelines
SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital is a non-for-profit, 195-bed inpatient and outpatient pediatric medical center. We specialize in neonatology, cardiology, pediatric and fetal surgery, and cancer services. We care for children of all ages from St. Louis, Missouri, Illinois, and from around the world. Our love for kids just keeps on growing.Job Summary:Provides therapeutic psychological counseling.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assesses a patient's psychological status and provides appropriate interventions and treatments.
Collaborates with nursing and ancillary services to provide appropriate psychological therapy for patient. Refers patients to other disciplines for consult and evaluations as indicated.
Provides psychological expertise and education to multidisciplinary team. Acts as resource to other disciplines.
Communicates complex/sensitive information to patients and medical team.
Administers and interprets psychological tests used for diagnosing mental and personality disorders and differentiating between organic and functional cases of behavior disorders.
Carries out ongoing record keeping and case review of all psychotherapy work in compliance with state guidelines.
Provides assessment (by telephone and in person) of suicidal and homicidal risk and immediacy of crisis situations.
Provides a continuum of short and long term psychotherapy to individuals, couples families and groups, based on individualized treatment plans.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Ph.D or Psy.D in Psychology or related field
