Job Description:

Architect - SS&C Health

SS&C Health provides a variety of solutions for plans, providers, and patients. We are building modern technology solutions that enable our customers to optimize clinical, financial, and operational outcomes.

Our team is made up of engineers and architects with varying levels of professional experience and backgrounds, from new graduates to 30-year veterans of the healthcare industry. We are looking for creative engineers and technologists: relevant industry experience is important, but less so than your demonstrated abilities, passion and attitude. We're always improving and looking for individuals that enjoy being challenged and have a strong desire to build world class technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish architecture strategy and engage with business leaders to align architecture strategy with the organization's priorities.
  • Research and identify required architecture components and/or frameworks that may span multiple products or areas of technology.
  • Provide technical expertise on multiple areas of underlying technologies, platforms, and subject matter relating to product or infrastructure architecture.
  • Gather and analyze technical and industry-related trends and evaluate technological advances and various third-party products and tools.
  • Ensure current technical assets are leveraged and set the architectural direction of future product offerings.
  • Create models and conducts feasibility, cost/benefit, and risk analyses to make recommendations that support long-term product maintainability, reliability, and scalability, while attempting to achieve and promote business objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership for cross-functional project teams.
  • Viewed as a technical leader and is sought out as the primary escalation point for the most complex architectural-related issues or decisions.
  • Build applications using CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Implement industry-wide best practices around micro-service development and API Management.
  • Build common components for reuse across the organization, maintain documentation, demo applications, and review pull requests.
  • Evolve our development ecosystem by exploring and prototyping new ways of meeting our business needs .

This position is full-time and open in several of our offices: Kansas City, MO; New York, NY; McLean, VA.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree, related technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • A solid foundation in object-oriented design and cloud native architecture.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React or Vue.js).
  • Experience in writing HTTP services in higher-level languages (e.g. Java/Spring, Go, Python).
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySql, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience learning new open source software, APIs and frameworks.
  • Exposure to automated testing, modern CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Familiar with bash, Git, JIRA and agile methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with and maintaining a community around open source software.
  • Desire to evangelize Developer Culture and lead change within the organization.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with enterprise Java development.
  • Experience modernizing mainframe or enterprise Java applications.
  • Experience with healthcare claims processing applications.
  • Desire to mentor junior developers and assist with intern project designs.
