515821BRTitle:Program Director StrategyWhat you'll do :The Program Director Strategy Execution will play a key role in driving the growth agenda for H&R Block. This highly visible role will report to the Chief Strategy and Development Officer and provide exposure to a wide range of senior business and functional leaders. This role focuses on annual planning, execution, and delivery of our Block Horizons Company strategy.As a member of the Strategy and Development team, you will play a key role in defining and executing critical analyses, developing data-driven recommendations, and preparing for Executive and Board of Director meetings. As part of the team, you will:

Be responsible for the successful execution of our Block Horizons strategy and overall company transformation

Help shape the future of the company by working hand-in-hand with the Chief Strategy & Development Officer and other top-level executives

Lead cross-functional teams to execute critical priorities that will drive significant impact to the trajectory of the company

Accelerate your career by having a seat at the table for high-level strategy decisions. Successful candidates will have multiple paths available at H&R Block for professional growth

The ideal candidate will be seeking a challenging next step after having previous experience leading at the Director level (or equivalent) and leading teams to achieve high-profile, cross-functional goals.

Develop and lead the execution of the company’s annual strategic planning process

Partner with Directors, VPs, and executives across the organization to ensure a smooth planning process with clear goals and company priorities as outcomes

Develop recommendations for presentation to management

Lead the planning and execution of Block Horizons work across the organization

Rigorously track progress of the Imperatives and associated initiatives and guide project leaders to give updates to senior executives at appropriate intervals

Bring visibility and clarity on our progress to the SLT and elevate issues as they arise

Help intervene if key company deliverables get off track and do what it takes to get them back on course

Partner with the Chief Strategy and Development Officer to prepare for SLT meetings and help run the meetings in an efficient manner

Build deep relationships across the organization and understand problems from diverse perspectives

Provide guidance and escalation, as needed, to remove roadblocks for the team

Share best practices across initiatives to create efficiencies and avoid duplication of missteps

Drive internal momentum and awareness of Block Horizons through to deliver effective internal communication (e.g., Milestone Moments, videos, Town Hall content)

Manage the Strategic Investment Fund and approval process for funding requests including collaborating with project owners to generate ideas that accelerate BH2025

Bachelor’s degree. An MBA or comparable graduate degree advantageous

At least 10 years of overall business experience including 2+ years of project management. Preferably with short-term and long-range strategic planning experience

Program management experience leading large, mission-critical programs that involve significant business change

Super organized – being able to balance multiple things while staying on top of the details along with a demonstrated track record of managing competing priorities and meeting deadline

Superior influence and matrix management skills and ability to oversee tasks delegated to others. Comfort with playing the “devil’s advocate” role with various levels of management

Advanced communication and presentation skills with an ability to tell a compelling ‘story’ without getting bogged down in the details. Comfortable communicating with senior management

A heightened sense of urgency and ability to adapt rapidly in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and ambiguity

Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative relationship building style; ability to work well with executives and leaders. Humility and empathy are critical to success in this role

Fluency with the MS toolkit (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
