Sr. RPA Production Support

Role Overview

The RPA Production Support role within the Global Investment Distribution Services (GIDS) division of SS&C plays a pivotal role within the Automation Program by ensuring that automations previously delivered are operating effectively and consistently. They are skilled in the use of multiple technologies with a heavy background in the use and day to day management of automations built leveraging Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

As a member of the GIDS Automation team, the RPA Production Support team member will partner with business stakeholders, solution analysts, and engineers to ensure that automations are running as expected, the platform(s) are operating at acceptable levels, and that the backlog of enhancements and bugs are being worked through the Agile framework.

The individual will be gifted at triaging issues as they arise within a fast paced, timeline driven environment while effectively root causing the issues to not only solve today's issue(s), but prevent them from reoccurring tomorrow. They are comfortable working individually and within a team or scrum setting.

A candidate for this role should be able to display proven experience delivering or managing solutions that incorporate the use of:
  • Tight integration with a Business Process Modeling (BPM) ecosystem
  • Surface Automation
  • Intelligent Document Processing (OCR, ICR, and ML)
  • Human-In-the-Loop (HIL)
  • API's, ODBC/JDBC queries, JSON/XML/CSV and other flat file inputs
  • ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) model based solutions
  • The creation and use of long running, persistent automations
  • Rules engines, logic based flows, and RegEx commands to evaluate workflows
In addition to their primary role of supporting existing automations, the Production Support team member will also be responsible for building small to medium enhancements, fixing defects, and identifying areas for improvement to increase the efficiency and/or scope of automations. They will also play a key role in the build out, testing, and long-term roadmap of the RPA and broader automation platform, infrastructure, and capability stack.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the effectiveness and operation of RPA based automations across multiple environments and platforms.
  • Triage production issues as they occur and communicate to affected individuals or groups any outages and/or impact.
  • Design and at times build sophisticated reporting and metrics pertaining to automations currently in production for management, the business and other stakeholders.
  • Review and digest detailed business requirements, technical documentation, and SDLC components (e.g. PDD, SDD, etc.) in order to understand the automations that they support and oversee.
  • Design, code, test, and implement enhancements and defect fixes to existing RPA based automations
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing automations, the business processes, and/or the platform itself in order to deliver additional value to the Business.
  • Participate in design sessions, estimations, Scrum ceremonies (PI/Sprint planning, sprint review, estimation, standups, etc.)
  • Support existing processes and implement change requirements as part of a structured change control process
  • Identify new methods and capabilities through active prototyping, R&D, and continuous learning.

They will be able to easily familiarize themselves with the business problems they encounter and leverage their expertise in the RPA space to solve the problem(s) at hand.

This individual must be able to naturally communicate with both the business and technology organizations. They will be able understand an automation and how to support it by reading project documentation (PDD, SDD, BRD, User Stories, etc.) and speaking with relevant individuals (business owners, solution analysts, engineers, etc.).

The ideal candidate will be a natural problem solver; applying logical and analytical reasoning in their development practice.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent + min 2 years of work experience in developing and or supporting RPA based solutions.

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience directly applying automation to business solutions.
    • Preference given to experience applying solutions within the US Financial Services Industry

  • Proven and demonstrable experience writing simple to complex code in RPA platforms such as Blue Prism, UI Path, Automation Anywhere, WorkFusion, etc.
    • Preferential consideration for candidates holding active BluePrism 'Associate Developer', 'Developer', 'Solution Designer', OR UI Path 'RPA Developer', or higher certifications.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, with a wide range of audiences.

  • Ability to anticipate, identify and manages risks

  • Experience working in agile development frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, etc.) using agile project management software such as JIRA.

  • Strategic mindset, with a pragmatic lens and a bias towards action
