Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for Intelerad's customers database performance, availability and redundancy. Intelerad's software solutions use many different database technologies running on Windows and Linux operating systems. Working with a team of System Administrators, the Senior Database Administrator ensures the database engines and databases in the field are set up in an optimal way for both Intelerad and it's customers. The Senior Database Administrator analyzes complex change requests and procedures to determine and help implement the best possible solutions using automation where possible.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure Intelerad's software solutions remotely on Linux and/or Windows servers

  • Participate in operational tasks with multiple products

  • Perform software upgrades, configuration changes and disaster recoveries

  • Create, maintain and improve documentation and database maintenance procedures

  • Develop and communicate DB best-practices and procedure

  • Develop scripts and automation to improve the efficiency of database administration and maintenance

  • Identify, assess and implement improvements to processes and technologies to deliver a better product

  • Perform 3rd level support in the areas of changes

  • Participate in training new staff members

  • Participate in on-call rotation to assist with emergencies reported after hours

  • Work on week-ends, after hours and holidays when needed

Qualifications

  • University or college education in computer science or information technology preferred

  • SQL, database administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields preferred

  • Experience with:

    • Stored procedures, triggers, views, constraints, and functions

    • Tuning databases and SQL, and query monitoring

    • Backup and recovery, high availability/cluster, and disaster recovery

    • Migrations, optimization of loads of large volumes of data

  • 5+ years of database administration experience

  • Approaches challenges as opportunities and sees every day as an opportunity to become a little bit better

  • Strong sense of ownership and dedication to results

  • Strong technical aptitude and an understanding of medical imaging

  • Excellent teamwork skills, and the ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships

  • Attention to detail and strong problem solving abilities

  • Expert knowledge of the following technologies:

    • SQL and NoSQL Databases

    • Microsoft SQL / PostgreSQL

    • Shell, Python or PowerShell

  • Basic Knowledge of all of the following technologies:

    • Linux Operating Systems

    • Windows Operating Systems

    • Version tracking tools (Mercurial, Git, RCS), an asset

    • Networking

    • Storage

    • IntelePACS / Clario Worklist / Digisonics

    • Software development

Desired Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with Azure and/or Amazon AWS
