This engineer will be responsible for analyzing, designing, programming, testing, researching, troubleshooting, and modifying software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based or Internet related computer programs. This engineer will be a full stack, lead developer working on processes related to retirement data processing, record-keeping, and presentation.
- Design, build, and enhance legacy and modern web apps for use by internal and external customers
- Develop REST APIs and microservices to integrate with internal and external client systems
- Work with a tightly knit development team to define, develop, and estimate enhancements and fixes for both internal and external clients
- Work with BA and QA to create and implement automated BDD tests
- Ensure the ongoing scalability, security, and maintainability of SS&C's products
- Build an empirical understanding of our core and integrated systems and use it to guide the direction of development when estimating and implementing solutions
- Bachelor's degree and 4 years of work-related experience; or Master's degree and 2 years of work-related experience; or 6 years of equivalent work-related experience
- Full understanding of HTTP and experience with RESTful web service development
- Full understanding of web development with experience in the following languages/frameworks: JUnit, JPA, Spring/JEE, Vue.js/Nuxt, jQuery, ExtJS, Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS3, Jasmine (or other Javascript unit testing frameworks)
- Full understanding of relational databases and experience constructing complex SQL queries (DB2 in particular)
- Experience with COBOL programming (or willing to self-learn and code)
- Understanding of message brokering systems and possible experience with Kafka
- Understanding of microservice architecture and development
- Ability to work in a remote environment with minimal guidance and the ability to conduct self-directed and self-motivated research for troubleshooting and solution discovery
- Experience with US retirement business, basic knowledge of the stock market and investing is a plus
- Flexibility/ability to be proactive, possesses good problem solving skills and the capability to find solutions and the ability to successfully meet deadlines
