ICF’s growing Disaster Management division seeks interns to support our project activities. As an intern, you will provide support to specific recovery projects and functions for the Division. You will also work alongside project teams, helping state and local clients administer United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and United States Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funded programs. You will be exposed to a wide variety of experts across the firm including those who address issues related to infrastructure, disaster planning and recovery, financial literacy, energy efficiency, green building, and job training. We’re currently hiring Disaster Management Program interns to join us from June through August 2022 across the following three teams:Disaster Recovery (Intern location: Virtual) Support project teams implementing HUD and FEMA funded programs, helping to refine program procedures and processes for implementation

Research, interpret and apply disaster recovery regulations and policies

Provide reconciliation, accounting and supporting documentation for the assigned grants to ensure that each subrecipient will have an audit quality file

Provides general assistance to subrecipients in preparing documentation, invoices, and information to request reimbursement

Review applications for missing documents, accuracy, and quality

Assist in the creation of written reports, policies and procedures, and training materials

Assist with operational improvement initiatives and address operational problems as they arise

HUD Housing, Infrastructure, and Mitigation (Intern location: Virtual) Provide support to specific recovery projects and functions for the Division

Work alongside project teams, helping state and local clients administer HUD CDBG-DR and Mitigation-funded disaster recovery programs.

Interact with a wide variety of experts across the firm who address issues related to energy efficiency and green building, infrastructure, disaster planning and recovery, financial literacy, job training, and others.

Support project teams implementing HUD Disaster Recovery and Mitigation funded programs, helping to refine program procedures and processes for implementation

Work with staff to set up systems and help interpret and apply disaster recovery regulations and policy

Provide reconciliation, accounting, and supporting documentation for the assigned grants to ensure that each subrecipient will have an audit quality file

Conduct reviews of supporting documentation for the assigned grants to ensure that each subrecipient receives appropriate reimbursement for approved, federally funded programs

Provide general assistance to subrecipients in preparing documentation, invoices, and information to request reimbursement for approved, federally funded programs

Help develop written products and tools for grantee policies and procedures and program implementation and design

Assist in the creation and maintenance of various documents, training materials, and presentations

Assist with operational improvement initiatives and address operational problems as they arise

Conduct program and policy research

FEMA Mitigation (Intern location: Tallahassee, FL office) Provide support to specific mitigation with hazard mitigation funding and planning projects for the Division

Work alongside project teams, helping state and local clients administer FEMA Mitigation-funded programs.

Interact with a wide variety of experts across the firm who address issues related to utilities, critical infrastructure, climate planning, finance, and more.

Preferred QualificationsExcellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities

Strong time management skills

Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

Experience conducting research, organizing, and analyzing information

Experience writing detailed guidance and procedural materials

Minimum Qualifications:   Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
