OTSI (Object Technology Solutions, Inc) has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager. OPERATIONS MANAGER (Kansas City, MO) Job Description:Assists the Deputy Chief Information Officer in planning and directing activities of Information Technology's Technical Operations Teams including Network Architecture, Security Network Architecture, Public Safety, Technical Support and Physical Infrastructure. Supervises and monitors IT staff performing activities in computer hardware and software support, support of datacenter appliances, storage and server environments, networking, cloud computing environments, physical infrastructure and cyber security environments and policies. Responds to needs of staff in areas of training, technical help, and other professional needs. Evaluates the short and long-range information technology needs of the City. Keeps abreast of new technologies. Works with technical operations teams to administer systems, assist in troubleshooting and resolve issues as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Assists the Deputy Chief Information Officer in planning, scheduling, prioritizing and controlling work of Technical Operations Teams. Schedules and assigns projects to IT staff. Monitors and reports progress of projects. Assists IT staff with work assignments as needed. Prepares time estimates of proposed projects.
- Manages/supervises and assists as needed in the administration, installation, upgrade, replacement and maintenance of the City's virtual and physical technology-based hardware and services including but not limited to: workstations, datacenter storage, cloud computing and server environments, enterprise-wide appliances and services, physical and cyber security and physical connectivity infrastructure.
- Works with end-users to resolve computer and network problems. Answers inquiries over the telephone or in person. Analyzes and corrects problems. Contacts outside vendors regarding hardware and software problems as needed.
- Assists in the development of incident response and disaster recovery procedures.
- Supervises activities related to the IT Help Desk services and procedures. Responsible for recognizing, identifying, isolating and resolving problems with information systems products and services.
- Assists other IT staff with technical support as needed.
- Performs support functions to IT staff and end-users regarding hardware and software such as assisting with installations, troubleshooting problems, making recommendations, developing procedures, assisting with acquisitions, etc.
- Assists with evaluation and projection of City's long-range information technology needs. Analyzes information technology hardware, software, operational and personnel needs and makes recommendations to Deputy Chief Information Officer.
- Analyzes current administrative and office procedures and recommends revisions, deletions and/or additions.
- Assists with establishing and maintaining information technology standards and procedures. Makes recommendations for improving staff and operational efficiency.
- Keeps abreast of current developments in information technology.
- The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.
- The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business, or a related field of study; or an equivalent combination of formal education and work experience.
- Six years of increasingly responsible information technology experience in the areas of data center or network administration, workstation support, physical or cyber security, physical infrastructure, or an equivalent level of experience.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Cloud Computing experience preferred.
