Job Description

The VDC Regional Project Engineer will provide leadership and oversee model coordination functions for all projects in the region. This individual will work closely with regional and corporate leadership on model coordination strategies and standardization. This individual will evaluate design capabilities of potential trade partners and work closely with the VDC Regional Manager on the implementation of field technology across all projects in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversee model coordination functions for all projects within the region
  • Develop and drive BIM coordination processes across the region to incorporate constructability, operability, maintainability and safety into the design authoring process
  • Work closely with regional and corporate leadership on model coordination strategies and standardization
  • Evaluate BIM modeling expertise within the project team including trade partners and external design partners
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team of VDC Project Engineers
  • Work with VDC Regional Manager on evaluation and implementation of field technology
  • Evaluate design capabilities of potential trade partners within the region and strengthen design workflows with existing trades partners
  • Participate in VDC related webinars and conferences to stay informed and share opportunities for technology innovation within the organization

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Computer Aided Design, or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or completion of Construction Management Certificate Program, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum eight years of experience in an EPC firm setting or construction industry equivalency
  • 3 - 5 years of experience managing or leading a team preferred
  • Ability to travel to construction project sites and regional offices as required

Additional Qualifications

  • Advanced understanding of building design and construction sequencing
  • Advanced knowledge and experience facilitating design/BIM coordination meetings with all disciplines and trade partners throughout the project lifecycle for all execution strategies (design, construction, and ONEsolution)
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with development of use point maps, room cards and preliminary equipment layouts during early design phases
  • Advanced knowledge and experience facilitating spatial planning to develop discipline "Spatial Allocation Zones" for all MEP systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and other design authoring platforms is required
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with providing clash reports and clash resolution guidance for the project team
  • Advanced proficiency in writing standards and guidelines
  • Understanding of industry standard VDC documentation (BEP, BIMForum, etc.)
  • Experience with 3D collaboration processes and tools (BIM360/ACC Suite, Assemble, clash tracking, laser scanning, iConstruct, model-based point layout)
  • Demonstrates good organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
