Elder Companion

This is a part-time position for Companion Care to a 75 year old denentia resident (my sister). She is a resident in a nursing home on the North side of Council Bluffs.

She needs interaction and conversation to avoid boredom. Mature high school student, nursing student, retired person encouraged to apply.

Duties:

Accompany her outside where the other residents gather. She uses a walker.

Play games like cards or assist with jigsaw puzzles.

Do simple crafts from Hobby Lobby (provided)

Fun conversation

She likes to joke about things

No smokers, no drug users.

Must have valid drivers' license or ride to facility

Must be at ease being in a nursing facility

Must follow protocols set by the nursing home - currently under Covid protection and must wear a mask.

Do not visit if not feeling well.

No cares required; the nursing home staff will be in charge

1 to 2 hours twice a week. May be able to pick up other work as companion to other residents.
