Position closes October 31, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time or until filled.Position SummaryNebraska Public Power District is seeking an engineering student to work with and assist other experienced engineering staff in the Engineering Department at Gerald Gentleman Station. Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, or other relevant engineering disciplines are acceptable. The duration of the internship will May 2025 to August 2025, based on school calendar dates.Gerald Gentleman Station is located near the south shore of Sutherland Reservoir, just east of State Highway 25 in west-central Nebraska. GGS consists of two generating units with a nominal capacity of 1,340 megawatts and is the largest generating facility in the state.The Engineering Department at Gerald Gentleman Station has responsibilities including daily support for operations and maintenance, trending system performance and initiating actions to restore/improve system performance and reliability, troubleshooting off-normal system conditions, failure and root cause analysis, evaluation of proposed configuration changes, recommendations to maintain asset value, capital project management and coordination of maintenance-related projectsEducation, Training and ExperienceThe student must be pursuing an engineering degree from an accredited college/university. At a minimum, the student must be finishing their sophomore year of college.Licenses and/or CertificationsNot Applicable.Essential Duties & Responsibilities-Assist Plant Engineers with equipment troubleshooting-Obtain field data-Utilize drawings and prepare drawing revisions-Update plant records-Trend equipment performance data-Research equipment/component replacement and upgrade options-Assist Plant Engineers with project field implementation and contractor oversightAccountable for other duties as assigned.Core CompetenciesSalary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth.Engineer Intern/Co-op - Sophomore - $23.47 per hourEngineer Intern/Co-op - Junior - $25.27 per hourEngineer Intern/Co-op - Senior - $27.08 per hourTravel Required: None Travel required may fluctuate by business need.
