Farmhand/Shepherd

This position will primarily be focused on our low input flock of EasyCare ewes, but will also include assisting with cattle, row crops, hay production, and numerous other jobs on our operation. Responsibilities will vary some depending on the time of year and weather. We are willing to train the right person. Past experience will be advantageous, but not required. Hours worked will vary seasonally, during busy times weekends will be expected (at least one day every weekend), during normal workload will prioritize time off if the employee desires that. The employee will need to be a team player and be able to work independently.

Mid Spring through October:

Will be responsible for daily moves of the sheep flock and cattle grazing perennial pasture

Lambing out the ewes on pasture in May (pasture lambing, care of orphan lambs)

Assist with controlling noxious weeds

Assist with our farming operation (field work, irrigation, harvest)

November through Mid Spring

Assist with harvest

Assist building temporary electric fence on crop residue fields for sheep and cows

Be responsible for day to day care of the sheep and cows grazing

Feed livestock during bad weather as needed

Help haul grain

Shop work
