Software Engineering Manager – Web and Mobile

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years proven track record of technical expertise in software engineering
  • 5+ years in software development leadership capacity
  • Architectural and technological tenets (API first, cloud native, microservice based, data driven, event driven, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with enterprise software platforms and a thorough understanding of largescale system nonfunctional characteristics (e.g. performance, scalability, availability, etc.)
  • Core platform technologies (JAVA Spring, React, React Native, iOS/Android, etc.)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong resource planning and management skills
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills
  • Strong leadership

Core Responsibilities:
  • Manage large software development efforts and cross-functional scrum teams
  • Facilitate Joint Application Design Sessions, Scrum Planning Sessions, Daily Stand-ups, etc.
  • Collaborate with product managers, product owners and scrum coaches to achieve well defined release plans
  • Define software development standards and engineering disciplines
  • Provide leadership in implementing and enforcing industry best practices for software development
  • Evaluate and communicate project risks in an appropriate and timely manner to stakeholders
  • Foster continuous improvement using tools and engineering metrics
  • Hire and on-board new personnel – support staff development
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coach and counsel team members
  • Provide an environment where engineering innovation and continuous learning can thrive and team commitment flourishes
  • Develop a culture that encourages excellence and high job satisfaction
