We are a 15-bed critical access facility with inpatient and outpatient services.CHI Health will supplement weekend staffing by offering its employees a “Weekend Option” program in which clinical (patient facing) employees in covered departments have the ability to work more weekend shifts for increased compensation. Weekend agreements will be 6 months in duration and be renewable in July/January following initial enrollment.ResponsibilitiesEvery other weekend (Option B)Can be full time, part time or PRNWork hours:Day shift- 12 Saturday and Sunday couplets in the duration of the 6 months of the agreement.Night shift- 12 Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday couplets in the duration of the 6 month of the agreement.Night shift employees are eligible for the weekend option differential for a 3rd weekend shiftEligible to work above their weekend commitment based on department needs and receive premium pay if applicableFunctions within the scope of practice of a Paramedic as defined within Iowa and Nebraska state regulations. This position does not take a patient assignment, it is an intervention role.Provides patient care and performs patient care procedures: EKG, Accu checks. CPR, crutches, ace bandage application, splint application, wound cleansing, dressing, immobilization. medication administration under medical/nursing direction (IM, IV, oral ASA and Tylenol, oral analgesics), IV insertions and IO insertions, foley catheterization, intubation (only at the direct request and supervision of a ED physician who is present in the room), re-assessment of patient condition and status.Responds to Code Blue in the ED and, when requested, on the hospital campus.Provides patient transportation within the Emergency Department and on the hospital campus as requested.QualificationsEligibility:Resource team/float pool, PRN, part time, and full time direct care/patient facing employeesEmployees who are not on a final written warning for performance or attendanceRequired:Valid certificate to function as an EMT-P (EMT-Paramedic) in the State

BLS or BLS instructor certification - American Heart Association - upon hire

ACLS or ACLS instructor certification - American Heart Association - within 6 months

PALS (Pediatric Cardiac Life Support) or PALS instructor certification within 6 months

Preferred:Previous experience as a Paramedic

Previous clinical experience in an Emergency Department or hospital setting
