The Fiber Engineer is responsible for conducting fiber optic maintenance, design, troubleshooting and documentation.  This position requires in-depth understanding of current fiber optic design standards and industry processes. The successful candidate will have significant experience in supporting, designing, and maintaining structured cabling both copper and fiber.Duties and Responsibilities: The job of the fiber optic engineer is to install, test and perform maintenance checks on all fiber cabling. Resolve any malfunctioning cables or optics that may occur. Design, label and document all fiber additions and provide technical assistance in designing and testing copper cabling as well. The professional should have a proper understanding of cabling and various electronic components. It is important to have a basic knowledge of the operation and application of electrical components and common measurement instruments. The candidate must have hands-on experience and work with hand and power tools.Additional responsibilities include:     Install, terminate, and test various low voltage cable types including single and multimode fiber, Cat6A, Cat6, Cat5e, etc. 
    Diagnose and repair layer 1 connectivity problems
    Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas
    Examine and replace faulty and old fiber optic cables
    Obtain necessary circuit identifiers from groups; or create as required
    Perform scheduled maintenance routines
    Complete cost estimates for all necessary maintenance and/or additions
    Submit all necessary change management notifications and adhere to field activity policies and guidelines
    Work with property engineering to ensure pathing and documentation is recorded 
    Ability to detail basic circuit design, installations, and other factors
    Racking and stacking network systems 
    Ensure deliverables and deadlines are met
