Job Summay:

Looking for an extremely dependable, experienced, compassionate caregiver, who understands the importance of meeting the needs of the client while helping them maintain a high-quality of life. We are looking for a committed individual who has impeccable communication skills with a sense of humor and can problem solve on the spot. Our caregiver must be willing to be a caregiver, but also a kind friend. You will be caring for our 83 year-old mother who has “A-typical” Parkinson’s, no tremors, is very slow moving and uses a walker. She does not like change, so we are looking to hire someone who is only interested in long-term employment. You’ll become a part of her working team of caregivers that all follow her care plan and communicate together to ensure the best of care for her. Must also be able to be around/kind to her cat.

Job Duties:

Assistant w/personal Care: dressing, grooming, help with toileting, overseeing medication, overseeing that she safely maneuvers about while daily activities are carried out.

Basic Daily Care: preparing cooked meals, snacks, catering to basic needs, gentle reminders to drink water, appointment and calendar reminders.

Personal Supervision: general supervision for safety at all times. Must be at her side when she is mobile in case she loses her balance.

Transportation: occasionally driving to and from activities, needs help getting in and out of vehicle. You will need to help her into/out of her transporter while on an outing.

Emotional Support: being a stable, kind companion and positive supporter in all matters, personal, health related, and emotional. Please keep conversations about your personal life to minimum. Parkinson’s people tend to be fixated on things. We don’t want her worried about you and your personal life issues. Do share positive/funny and happy things with her so she gets to know you. Help redirect when dementia is apparent.

Home Upkeep: General house cleaning - clean up after yourself as you work and leave areas clean for the next shift. (Other household duties will be designated for all and are expected to be completed during your shift.)

Health Monitoring: following her care plan, noticing any changes in individual’s health, recording, and reporting any differences to the team.

Pet Care: must like cats, help with daily feeding and changing/cleaning of litter box for one indoor cat.

Good health and physical strength to help with mobility and lifting will be needed. She is 5’5”and 112 pounds. There are three other caregivers that fill other shifts. Teamwork attitude and ethic is a must to provide the best care.
