The

Vice President of Business Intelligence & Data Strategy oversees the design, implementation, and usage of American Homes 4 Rent's data strategy platform which provides data services to API's, reporting and analytics tools, and internal applications. Promoting the use of data as a strategic business asset, the Director partners with business unit leaders to understand their data needs and challenges, defines a development roadmap that aligns with company objectives, and delivers high quality data solutions.

The

VP is also responsible for developing and leading the strategy for data governance, master data management, and data quality initiatives. Toward that end, this position plays an important role in defining and building the data governance program, ensuring adoption of good data management practices through engagement with and identification of data owners and stewards across the organization. Ultimately, this position empowers the company through data insight and provides a forward-looking view for our needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages the Business Intelligence & Data Strategy team who develops, maintains, and supports the data strategy platform and its data assets. Develops effective teams and provides guidance and direction for direct reports, ensuring understanding of roles and responsibilities.
  • Creates governance surrounding data management through education, engagement, and alignment with data stakeholders across business units.
  • Collaborates with business unit leaders and key stakeholders to develop policies, standards, and a framework for data governance. Implements and maintains a data governance organizational structure and supporting governance solutions that promote better decision-making, operational efficiencies, and data quality.
  • Develops the core logical objects that define and measure business activities. Creates a scalable data model serving as the underlying data asset that supports the data needs of business users, reporting analysts, and applications.
  • Partners with all departments to identify data, analytic, and KPI needs through one-to-one communications and group workshops with key employees.
  • Establishes frameworks and/or standard operating procedures for data-related activities such as data acquisition, data enrichment, data correction, data and reporting access, data cataloging, migrations, environment and job monitoring, and job orchestration.
  • Builds and manages relationships with vendors, ensuring that contractual obligations are met, and work product is of high quality.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Economics or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Business Intelligence with proven experience in comparable senior leadership roles
  • MBA, advanced degrees in a technical field, and skill certifications preferred
  • Experience leading data governance and/or master data management initiatives
  • Technical expertise in SQL, data modeling, integrations, and business intelligence tools
  • Experience with domain-driven architectures and cloud technologies highly desired

In the states of Colorado, California and Washington, the anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $117,125 to $167,475. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.
  • Position is also eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
Employees also have the opportunity to participate in medical, dental and vision insurance; flexible spending accounts and/or health savings accounts; dependent savings accounts; 401(k) with company matching contributions; employee stock purchase plan; and, a tuition reimbursement program. The Company provides 9 paid holidays per year and, upon hire, new employees will accrue paid time off (PTO) at a rate of 0.0577 hours of PTO per hour worked, up to a maximum of 120 hours per year.
