dentsu Xis looking for a Media Planning Supervisorwith solid integrated media expertise to help maintain and grow one of our large integrated media businesses. This person’s background should have some experience in both traditional and off-line media (TV, Radio, Print, OOH), but a major focus of this role will focus on all things digital – digital media planning, digital activation, digital partnerships, digital channels, and performance media. The Senior Manager will be a key member of the team and a point person to our clients. This role will be very hands-on and involved in the day-to-day of this newly expanded account. In addition, they will be a crucial contributor in areas of agency development and growth – from training to new business pitches, etc.

As the Media Planning Supervisor at dentsu x, you are responsible for ensuring that communications strategies are effectively and accurately translated into plans as well as leading the development and implementation of those plans. In partnership with the senior leadership on the team, you will help in setting the strategic tone for the account/within your assigned division. You are expected to have a strong working knowledge of the media landscape (including digital) as well as the retail vertical. The Senior Manager role will be responsible for directly managing the planning team – developing their skills, evaluating their performance and managing their growth. In addition to core account assignments, the Senior Manager is expected to take part in larger areas of agency development – aiding with new business pitches, committees, and task forces. This role is a step toward greater leadership within the integrated media group and the agency overall. Managing client relationships is also a key component of this role.

Media Planning and Execution:

  • Accountable for media plan output timeliness, accuracy, and overall excellence
  • Participate and help lead the strategic media planning/execution and serve as a resource for direct reports & junior staff for advice and counsel
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize resources (syndicated, proprietary, analyst data) to help guide client’s marketing goals and apply to strategic recommendations
  • Work closely with activation department leads to outline appropriate processes and timelines to ensure flawless execution
  • Understand and adopt new techniques and technologies that are relevant for clients’ media strategies
  • Provides relevant insight and input into existing and emerging media opportunities (through awareness of available media services vendors)

Client & Internal Relationships:

  • Build & maintain trusting, collaborative relationships with clients at appropriate levels
  • Manage expectations of clients and deliverables
  • Accurately represent the client’s point of view when developing/reviewing work, leverage this perspective when providing feedback to team and presenting to client
  • Participate and present in New Business efforts and presentations, where appropriate
  • Capable of effectively managing up and down the reporting structure

Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

  • Provide and discuss industry information on media, markets and related dynamics
  • Demonstrate problem solving and intervention when necessary
  • Understand and analyze the root causes of problems and develop ways to rectify
  • Guide and assist staff to arrive at potential solutions to problems/issues
  • Ensure key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.
  • Train, motivate and develop media planning group
  • Construct and deliver accurate, honest and timely performance management documents

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of communications/media planning experience·
  • Experience in traditional marketing and current knowledge of trends and innovations in traditional media
  • Experience in digital marketing / media and current knowledge of trends and innovations in digital media
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proven leadership skills and management experience
  • Working knowledge of Insights tools such as MRI and Simmons and competitive tools like Nielsen Ad Intel and/or Kantar Strategy
  • Experience with Prisma, Media Tools and buying platforms such as DDS, Media Ocean, Spot Toolkit
  • Solid understanding of DFA, and other digital media related tools (comScore, eMarketer, Forrester…)

For individuals assigned to and/or hired in Colorado, the anticipated salary range for this position is$80,000 - $85,000, which is based on a wide range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other job-related qualifications.Pay ranges in locations other than Colorado may differ based on labor market wage rates in those locations.A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.
