Job Description

As a Fiberon Mechanical/Operational Excellence Engineer you will have the opportunity to

be a change agent and drive the continuous improvement efforts in the production of our industry leading composite decking and railing.

You will

be part of a team as well as lead a cross functional data-driven team that focuses on Safety Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Cost Reduction, Material Utilization, R&D Collaboration, OI / KPI analysis and Capital Projects. You will actively take part in root cause analysis, FMEA, RCM, process documentation, and implementation of corrective actions to solve problems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Design and defining project requirements.
  • Evaluating and modifying equipment and processes to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient.
  • Evaluating, testing, validating and modifying processes.
  • Providing technical advice, analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Provide accurate and timely project reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure successful evaluation, development, and launch of new materials, processes, and products.
  • Optimize current processes and identify emerging technologies for future implementation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

In addition:

  • People Skills – Ability to influence and build relationships, motivating and inspiring others through highly effective communication, interact with the shop floor as well as section and upper management. Ability to engage others - fostering teamwork and building strong relationships.
  • Vision, Processes, and Procedures - Create Value for the Customer / Focus on the Process / Assure Quality at the Source / Sustainability and Control.
  • Training, Coaching, and Mentoring – The ability to identify and leverage strengths, and find solutions to weaknesses. Create and implement programs and processes that are easy to follow and duplicate able.
  • Continuous Improvement - Experience in successful deployment of Lean and Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Facilitation, Gage R&R, Single-Minute Exchange of Dies, Process Flow Mapping, Visual Controls, 5S, etc.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal,and written communication skills.
  • Leadership – Quick to listen and understand, deflect successes to the team, controlled under pressure.
  • Proficient in CAD (2D & 3D Solids), Mechanical design, some knowledge of Ignition & Allen Bradly PLC.
