Packaging Engineer

As a Packaging Engineer you are responsible for developing and implementing packaging designs and solutions that protect products during shipping and storage while meeting the company's cost and sustainability goals. You work closely with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and create packaging prototypes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of packaging materials, processes, and regulations, as well as 3+ years of experience in the packaging industry.Duties and Responsibilities:Creating optimized product packaging designs on 3D software to meet the safety, compliance, quality & sustainability requirements of the companySelect and specify packaging materials and componentsInspect and test packaging for quality and complianceDocument packaging processes and proceduresWork with suppliers to implement the designsTrain and supervise suppliers' packaging operatorsStay up to date on packaging trends and technologiesCollaborate with the product designers and buying teams to discuss packaging specificationsRisk analysis of the packaging design along with supplier, quality team & business teamBrainstorming packaging ideas using hand sketches, verbal cues, words, and design softwareEnsuring packaging designs accurately represent the company’s brand and valuesBringing in outside perspective with continuous industry trend analysisResearching & identifying innovative packaging materials and conducting feasibility studies
