JOB SUMMARY

Prepare IV medications under the direction of a pharmacist

Maintain proper stock levels of IV solutions/additives.

Deliver IV additives to the nursing units as required.

Fill unit dose patient cassettes under the direction of a pharmacist

Enter patient charges and credits in the pharmacy computer system

Fill floor/Omnicell stock requisitions as per pharmacy policy.

Assist in the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions in the take home pharmacy area.

Perform quality control checks as required.

Maintain monthly report records in the IV additive/chemo room.

Maintain the IV additive room in a safe and clean manner.

Initiate purchase orders for drug wholesalers.

Receive and check medication orders.

Process purchase orders, packing slips and invoices as required.

Place stock in assigned area of the pharmacy.

Technically assist the pharmacist with all requested needs for proper pharmacy operations with non-judgmental tasks.

Perform hourly rounds to all nursing units to bring new "filled" orders to floors

Incumbents are identified as "Waste Handler-Satellite Collection Area" employees. These employees must complete the NHDES required hazardous waste level training as defined in the SJH Hazardous Waste Training Plan-2014 as administered by the St. Joseph Hospital Safety Officer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience

Additional experience in pharmacy or related fields is preferred.

Other Skills Required

Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician per the guidelines of the NH Board Of Pharmacy
