We have deep functional expertise across a variety of HR proficiencies as well as an appreciation for what the business needs to accomplish its own objectives. We take a true partnership approach to our work, consistently bridging our partner's needs with that of the broader company. We have significant hands-on experience with core people processes, career and talent development, performance management, employee relations, data reporting and analysis and broader organizational issues. We provide objective advice regarding complex issues and our partner organizations consider us trusted advisors.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager, HR Business Partner. This person will be located in Brooklyn. Etsy offers three different work modes to meet the variety of needs and preferences of our team, but due to the responsibilities associated with this specific position, we will require that this person work Flex mode: traveling to an office location 2+ times per week. About the RoleIn this role you will:

  • Identify and handle employee relations issues quickly and sensitively, exercising good judgment and discretion, and partner with our Employment Counsel as appropriate

  • Coach managers on performance management, feedback, employee development and career pathing and be a resource for individual contributors, when needed

  • Build strong trusted relationships and credibility across all levels of business line management

  • Partner with the broader people team on Etsy’s performance management, talent, compensation and internal mobility processes as it relates to your partner organizations

  • Support leaders on organizational design, hiring and compensation decisions

  • Synthesize insights and observations from across the organization to identify improvement areas in HR processes and propose solutions for addressing them

  • Facilitate ongoing discussion with leaders on HR analytics and business insights related to workforce demographics, staffing, employee engagement, etc.

  • Collaborate closely with various HR partner teams to support business line priorities

Qualifications

About YouIdeally you'll bring:

  • Must have at least 7 years of experience working in Human Resources, 3 years of experience as an HRBP.

  • Have experience working with Engineering and/or Product teams.

  • Demonstrated sound judgment, and the ability to negotiate critical situations appropriately, with poise, under difficult circumstances.

  • Knowledge of basic U.S. employment law (ie: FMLA and ADA)

  • Experience working in a dynamic, constantly evolving business with corporate functions

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail and organization

  • You can effectively strike the right balance of being an advisor to the business but also an advocate for employees

  • Ability to negotiate complex and confidential situations with confidence and finesse

  • A trust in and commitment to Etsy’s vision, mission and core values
