Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityThe University of Auckland (Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences) and Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Medicine.Are you looking to further your career in academic medicine? This full-time position with both an academic and clinical component will ideally suit and be an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic early career physician who wants to combine a clinical appointment with a university career, each half time. The successful applicant will join the University of Auckland Department of Medicine staff at the South Auckland Clinical Campus at Middlemore Hospital, and take a clinical role in the Division of Medicine at CM Health. CM Health provides health services to over 550,000 people and is regarded as one of the most progressive services in Australasia with initiatives aimed at developing “whole of system” integrated care.The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading university, and is the only ranked among the world’s top 200 universities by the Times Higher Education World Rankings of Universities. The medical school is ranked within the world’s top 50, and the class size is heading towards 300 per year.  The South Auckland Clinical Campus is an academic division of The University of Auckland’s Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, and coordinates clinical teaching and research in partnership with Counties Manukau Health.This position will suit a physician with enthusiasm for and experience in teaching as well as clinical and/or basic science research. The candidate must aspire to take an increasing role in leadership of teaching in medicine in South Auckland. The clinical component of the post is flexible and will be tailored to suit the interests and experience of the right candidate. The usual composition of the university component of the job is 40:40:20 for teaching, research and university service respectively. Please refer to the position description for further details.Candidates must hold a medical qualification registerable in New Zealand and must have a higher qualification in Medicine equivalent to the Fellowship of the Royal Australasia College of Physicians (FRACP) and be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.  Priority will be given to someone who already has a clinical position at CMDHB. Research is also an important part of this role.  Previous research experience and the ability to acquire external research funding would be an advantage. These are part-time roles, 20 hours per week each, on a permanent basis.
