Note: this is a Hybrid role and can work from home Mondays and Fridays. Location is Jersey City, NJ

The application developer will support line-of-business needs from data ingestion, application support and reporting standpoint. The role will additionally act as a technology advisor for system support improvements and new source onboarding into accounting systems including bringing in the same additional data sources into Investment data warehouse.

Responsibilities include system testing for infrastructure upgrades and corporate mandates that could impact business systems or functions. The Application developer supervises junior developers to provide solid design oversight for new projects and break/fix and code modification, engaging with and managing both business users and vendors as needed, working within the global delivery model, and ensuring actions are appropriately prioritized and assigned to development teams to address identified problems and to ensure on-time resolution.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Solid understanding of accounting system principles is a requirement.
  • Have good knowledge in Fixed Income and Equity accounting dataset and support structure needed for efficient overnight data consumption and exception handling.
  • Working experience with multiple stake holders to build consensus on the way forward in the technical design.
  • Working with sense of urgency and can do attitude as most of the time required in supporting the GA accounting.
  • Efficiently troubleshoots performance issues in data ingestion batch, data extracts.
  • Evaluate and ensure the required application production support is sufficiently staffed and trained for data delivery and reporting aspects of the data warehouse platform.
  • Triage data issues and evaluate the root cause identified by the production support team.
  • In-depth understanding of database modeling and DBMS principles.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements.
  • Solid working knowledge of SDLC methodologies.
  • Lead onshore and offshore consultants in getting the work done.
  • Proven analytical skills and problem-solving attitudes.
  • Participate and influence data governance where stake holders from multiple LOBs congregate and drive best practices and data consistency within NYL.
  • Problem solving and innovation required in addressing challenges that arise in the projects.

Experience
  • 10-15+ years of overall experience.
  • Financial services industry experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.

Required Skills
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases MSSQL & Oracle required.
  • Required experience in Linux/UNIX operating system.
  • Hands-on experience in development languages such as Python.
  • Full stack developer with vast experience in taking concepts and turning them into finished products using relational databases or data stores, APIs, quality assurance and security aspects of application development by understanding business needs.
  • Preferred working knowledge in AWS cloud and deploying applications/platforms.
  • Ability to work in large development teams on medium to large scale projects.

Salary range: $105,000-$160,000
