Job DescriptionThe AVP/Solution Design Business Analyst will be responsible for leading the business and functional requirements definition for policy administration as well as downstream systems and reporting. The AVP Solution Design Business Analyst will also be responsible for specializing in specific products, training and coaching superusers on Guidewire functionality, problem solving, planning and facilitating user acceptance testing and managing business relationships. The role will be accountable for developing strong partnerships with our Product Owners within our various Insurance Underwriting business lines.

  • Provide clear leadership across business stakeholders and align business requirements to a common end to end standard
  • Ensure key business outcomes are identified and associated with the appropriate features and user stories
  • Prepare current and future state business process documentation, and detailed business requirements
  • Lead end-to-end requirements sessions with cross-functional teams, driving standards, ensuring consistency across Business Units as applicable, while ensuring that functionality supports the unique needs of each Business Unit and product
  • Work closely with partner teams in Finance/SAP, CededRe, Claims and Reporting to ensure upstream business process and data requirements are appropriately considered through all financial and reporting systems
  • Drive consensus on challenging business blockers, actively facilitate requirements elicitation and documentation
  • Collaborate with IT business analysis, development, and QA teams to provide subject matter expertise
  • Provide strong UAT leadership and participation to ensure testing strategy is well documented, scenarios are tested, support business process flows, and meet the needs of the larger organization from a data perspective.
  • Plan and coordinate business migration and conversion to Guidewire PolicyCenter from various legacy systems
  • Assist with Project Management/Planning, identification of risks and issues in solution design and delivery, training planning, training material development, change management approach and communication development, delivery of ‘just in time’ training to end users
  • Provide end user support during the transition period
Primary Skills:
  • BA/BS degree, Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) is a plus, Insurance Certification, (i.e. CPCU a plus)
  • 10-15 years of business analysis experience in the Commercial Property and Casualty insurance industry. Specialty insurance and Multinational experience a plus.
  • Strong process and technology experience with policy administration solutions; experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter strongly preferred. Experience with Integration between Policy Administration Systems and SAP a plus.
  • Experienced with various software delivery and business analysis methodologies; working knowledge of business analysis documentation standards
  • Hands-on experience writing BRDs and user stories is required.
  • Knowledge and experience leveraging IT solutions, business process improvement, Lean process/continuous improvement
  • Experience interfacing with business management, including negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of creating clear, concise deliverables that reflect a deep understanding of business needs and the out of the box software functionality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, highly collaborative.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; understands communication channels and escalates appropriately.
  • Must be proficient with process modeling tools (e.g., Visio); experience with other visualization tools is beneficial.
  • Experience supervising small teams.
  • Strong initiative; able to self-manage; agile; comfortable with ambiguity and able to work through it to get the right things done.
  • Must be able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance.
  • Experience using standard project and business tools including TFS/Azure, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
