TSG Platform Engineering is focused on solutions across compute, storage, and backup and recovery infrastructure. Role Description As a Backup Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering, administering, and supporting a cyber resiliency backup and recovery solutions. You will have a strong technical expertise in the areas of backup and recovery systems; and integrating them to backup distributed databases and VMware vCenter servers. You will gain a cross-functional understanding of the BNY Mellon's businesses and how we protect our data and assets. Additionally, you will work with other subject matter experts and resources at BNY Mellon to deploy cyber-resiliency backup and recovery solutions. You will join our Backup Engineering team which is responsible for engineering and administering cyber resiliency backup and recovery solutions across network, distributed servers and other endpoints. The team plays a key role working with architecture, security, applications, database, production services and other teams to architect and deliver backup and recovery solutions and are the subject matter experts to provide level 3 support. This role contributes to our cyber resiliency program which focuses on our critical business services and how we can continue to evolve and improve our ability to recover from a cyber event or other data center infrastructure interruption. Implementation of cyber-resiliency backup and recovery solutions are part of our strong cyber resilient posture. Position Location Candidate will be required to be onsite in our Jersey City office 1-3 days a week based on manager requirements Key Position Responsibilities Architect and design backup and recovery solutions Build and deploy backup and recovery solutions Test and validate version upgrades and patches Integrate backup and recovery capabilities to VMware vCenter systems Integrate backup and recovery capabilities to databases Integrate backup and recovery solution to existing automation and reporting system Develop automation to support integration with various systems Assist with support and administration of existing backup tools Responding to backup incidents in a production environment providing level 3 support Maintain departmental documentation Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 10 years' experience as a backup storage engineer 10 Years' as a Linux engineering system administrator or equivalent experience Experience integrating backup and recovery solutions to backup and recovery VMware vCenter servers Experience integrating backup and recovery solutions to backup Oracle and SQL Server databases Experience using product API to automate and integrate functions Skilled in scripting languages (Python, PERL) Hands-on experience implementation and supporting backup and recovery solutions Strong working knowledge of backup and storage infrastructure and how they are used to backup and recover data Strong analytics skills and data management experience Excellent communication skills Preferred Qualifications Cohesity certified or equivalent work experience Prior financial services or other highly regulated industry experience
