The successful individual will be working on commercial and multifamily residential projects, serve as a member of a design team, and assist in coordinating site-civil designs to meet project objectives, schedules, and budgets, while working directly under licensed Engineers. Job Description
Perform engineering tasks in the site/civil engineering field through the development of a working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes.
Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while being flexible and able to adapt to a changing environment.
Perform site visits, investigation, data collecting, review and interpretation of available site plans, survey mapping and review of agency regulations.
Assist the project managers/engineers with the design of grading, earthwork analysis and stormwater management designs.
The successful applicant must possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of site civil design, permitting and construction plan preparation and be proficient in using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D to create design plans and details.
Prepare cost estimates and specifications based on design drawings.
Preparation of written correspondence including proposals, Site Investigation Reports, Grading and Drainage Reports, paving assessments, and other required reports.
Demonstrate the willingness to expand his/her knowledge base via in-house training and/or self-training.
Work within a design team to develop Site plans using AutoCAD including grading, green infrastructure, trail/pedestrian facilities, erosion & sediment control plans and details, utility distribution systems, potable water system design, sanitary sewer design, stormwater management system design and associated calculations.
Preparation of associated calculations and spreadsheets.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college. 5-10 years of experience EIT or PE License preferred but not required Understanding of Civil Engineering as it pertains to Land Development. (stormwater management and grading is the biggest) Knowledge of local city, county and state land use processes and regulations in New York or New Jersey AutoCAD Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts concept through completion Proficiency in grading and other site development related designs Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis including knowledge of hydrologic or hydraulic software (HydraFlow, HydroCAD, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, of similar).
