Masters in Mental Health or MSW with psychiatric experience
Scheduling Requirements:
Days working, Tuesday evenings 4pm-12am, and/or Saturday and/or Sundays 8-4pm, 4pm-12pm, 12am-8am all shifts available
Per Diem
Essential Functions:Performs mental health evaluation to assist in determining a patient s level of careCommunicates findings with on-call psychiatrist/tele-psychiatrist to decide on appropriate disposition of patient within the Network, other agencies or home. Communicates this to the ED staffInitiate admission process to either a Network facility or other facility as appropriateArrange transportation through the Medical Center for patients requiring transfer between facilitiesServices as an advocate for clients by facilitating connection with personal support systems and follow up mental health servicesCompletes appropriate communication with areas of the continuumProvides appropriate forms and releasesMaintains statistical records as appropriateCoordinates commitment process through the designated screening centersParticipates in QA/QI activitiesUses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific treatment and careOnce contacted, arrives in the Emergency Department within 30 minutesPerforms a face-to-face mental health assessment to determine the appropriate level of care in consulting with on-call PsychiatristIf psychiatric inpatient admission is required, the crisis professional will obtain insurance precertification and contact the on-call psychiatrist for final authorization of the admissionCompiles with any agreement RWJ-Rahway has with managed care companies for on-site face-to-face evaluations if acute services are necessaryWhen patient admission is not required, the crisis professional gives the patient the Central intake number and faxes all information to themDocuments assessment on the designated medical record in accordance with established Department documentation standardBenefits and Perks:At RWJBarnabas Health, our market-competitive Total Rewards package provides comprehensive benefits and resources to support our employees physical, emotional, social, and financial health.Choosing RWJBarnabas Health!RWJBarnabas Health is the premier health care destination providing patient-centered, high-quality academic medicine in a compassionate and equitable manner, while delivering a best-in-class work experience to every member of the team.
