Currently seeking a hands-on Data Center (DC) Operations Engineer to become a member of a highly experienced team that works with leading-edge technology to provide innovative solutions to business challenges in the financial services industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and maintain 24x7 datacenter operations.
  • Provide first line, and where required, second line technical troubleshooting. 24x7 On-call and travel to DCs when required.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination, implementation and execution of approved policies, programs and services related to DC services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to arrange/support repair of server and network hardware to major component level (e.g. hard disk, NIC card, memory).
  • Project management - assist in the design and implementation of DC build outs, including installation of cabinets and structured cabling, installation and provisioning of new hardware. Work with Network engineering and lead DC projects and activities to ensure they are delivered to meet the requirements.
  • Inventory control - Support and execute all data center capacity management and inventory control for optics, cables and all DC server/network hardware.
  • Power management – power analysis and budgeting, monitoring and reporting.
  • Shipment control - manage the goods in/out process for data center and storage facilities and keep detailed records for all incoming/outgoing assets and a full availability list of all items in storage.
  • Vendor management - working with vendor and facilities to maintain and improve DC facilities

Organizational StructureThe Data Center Operations Engineer will report to the Manager Data Center Operations

Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in day to day datacenter operations.
  • Knowledge and experience of structured cabling, optical technologies, DC power management, and server/network hardware.
  • Basic network knowledge and good experience across a broad range of IT hardware.
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment with deep understanding of Change Control, Incident Management & Problem Management processes and procedures.
  • Good experience using Microsoft Visio or similar.
  • Proactive and flexible with ability to effectively work either as part of a team or as an individual.
  • Effective written and verbal communication at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively.

Education and Experience
  • Design and support of large transaction infrastructure; financial or HFT network is a plus
  • Prior experience working in a high performance, low-latency, mission-critical datacenter environment or similar datacenter environments
  • CDCTP or CDCMP Certification desirable or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent relative experience
