Developer / DevOps EngineerFull TimeOrange, NJ (Hybrid)A principal developer position leads IT application development projects that promote an effective and efficient use of technology resources, and that meet specific business needs. This particular position encompasses integration, application development and design, and Ellucian Banner enhancements and extensions, which are required to develop scalable solutions in response to requests for a personalized, secured, constituent-centered web experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Gather details pertaining to business processes and workflow; compile list of requirements to resolve a business need; generate options for solutions; draft a complete project scope pertaining to business purpose, solution and estimated resources.
  • Design use case scenarios for each application; develop business workflow diagrams and/or logic flowcharts; develop pseudo code and produce proof of concepts; evaluate complex data management and sourcing issues and identify resolutions; present application design to project team and stakeholders.
  • Develop code to support accepted application design; design and produce programmatic interfaces to communicate with required integrated systems; test and evaluate own code to ensure functional requirements and desired results are met; follow quality standards for production deployment
  • Produce scheduled status reports; develop and maintain project plans utilizing a recognized PMP tool; articulate risks and or issues impeding a successful implementation (on-time, within scope, within budget); present progress to project team and stakeholders.
  • Accurately estimate the scope and time required for tasks and small projects for cost/benefit analysis; track work completed and time spent on various initiatives; confer with internal clients on issue resolution and new development for web tier system components; consult with end users to clarify project objectives, highlight potential issues, and suggest changes; train and mentor junior team members.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced ability to develop program flowcharts, business process workflow and data structures.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Banner ERP at least one module (HR/Student). -

    Preferred
  • Expert knowledge of current application and data integration best practices and methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience working with SQL and PL/SQL and relational databases -

    Preferred
  • Expert knowledge of current application and data integration best practices and methodologies and restful API/API programming.
  • Expert knowledge of current programming languages (Python, Java) and CI/CD/SDLC in an Agile environment
  • Experience with:
    • SCM (git/perforce)
    • QA Testing
    • Usability Testing
  • Knowledge of:
    • Web-based security and authentication
    • SAML
    • PKI
    • Firewalls
    • Network/IP
    • SSL/TLS
    • Cookie handling
    • Mobile app development

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required, with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Hands on experience and familiarity with server less technologies (AWS Lambda, containers).
  • Hands on experience and familiarity with AWS Cloud Data Warehousing and Data Lake Services (RedShift/DMS/Athena/QuickSight, etc.).
  • Experience/familiarity working with Linux based systems.
