Position Summary
Our client is currently seeking a highly motivated DevOps Manager to join their team in Princeton, NJ. The incumbent in this leadership role is accountable for the DevOps adoption across the entire company and is expected to be self-directed, take initiative and be persistent when appropriate to accomplish necessary duties, and keep busy without prompting. Additionally, this person is expected to be adaptable/flexible to changing work assignments, analytical, organized, and detail-oriented, perform multiple tasks at once, express ideas constructively, actively listen to others, manage time effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines, learn and memorize procedures, display a cooperative attitude, read, understand and follow all company, job-specific and safety policies/procedures, and attend/use all required training.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
  • Leverage influencing and negotiation skills across IT and the enterprise to enable cost-effective and innovative DevOps solutions in the achievement of business goals
  • Responsible for driving and coordinating enterprise technology projects and operational releases for all technical teams supporting 10+ applications
  • Constantly committed to a culture of continuous improvement around key activities and metrics, including KPIs, while managing risk and resolving issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality
  • Maintain currency on new technologies and platforms, and recommends on what emerging DevOps technologies should be introduced, integrated, and assimilated within IT
  • Lead DevOps team in innovation efforts and experimenting with new solutions in the DevOps field to take advantage of automation opportunities to streamline and improve the delivery pipeline
  • Provide oversight for the design and development of DevOps solutions and tools that fulfill the needs of the business
  • Direct, motivate, mentor, and develop a highly skilled team of DevOps engineers
  • Responsible for overseeing the stable operation of the DevOps in alignment with the business objectives of the organization
  • Provide the overall visibility and transparency into multiple release streams and sub-streams to all service delivery teams
  • Plan, design, coordinate, and manage DevOps Automation related activities of the organization, as well as provide direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department
  • Maintain current and relevant knowledge of DevOps Automation best practices
  • Foster a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques and develop structured processes
  • Build and maintain relationships with other IT leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures cost-effective DevOps solutions are in place to meet those needs and can respond with agility to changing business priorities
  • Coordinate and organize work to implement DevOps technologies and meet team objectives. Break down work objectives into tactical tasks. Provide estimates of work effort required to complete tasks and time to completion.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing application development, software delivery lifecycle, and/or infrastructure development and administration
  • Define a vision and strategy of DevOps for the organization, as well as manage a team of skilled DevOps engineers, executing that vision and roadmap.
  • Experience with DevOps-related practices such as CI/CD, Canary Pushes/Blue-Green deployments, Software Defined Infrastructure, and tools on Azure.
  • Has a very good understanding of CI/CD, containerization, release, and configuration management automation tools.
  • Highly motivated, self-sufficient, and passionate about creating quality environments for both Software Development and fault-tolerant production environments.
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications with microservices-based architecture.
  • Good knowledge of public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
  • Minimum of 5 years' design and implementation of Continuous Delivery and/or DevOps solutions or architecture patterns.
  • Minimum of 5 years design and implementation of DevOps solutions.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with code repository management, code merge and quality checks, continuous integration, and automated deployment & management using tools like Jenkins, SVN, Git, Ansible, Artifactory, Service Now, SonarQube, Selenium
  • Experience using and supporting complex architecture environments consisting of custom applications and COTS
  • Knowledge of relational databases and client/server technologies
  • Strong analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
  • Ability to multi-task as well as work under pressure
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in an Agile Development environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong experience working directly with customers & ability to brainstorm concepts
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team

  • Strong work ethic, critical thinker
  • Specific experience in the transportation industry is a plus
  • Project Management skills
  • Fundamental or Intermediate understanding of cloud technology (Certifications are a plus)
