Job Description

Leadingan engineering team (voice, data, & systems engineering) to deliver high quality telecommunications services to customers of MNF Group.

You will be focussed on serving our customers, ensuring we deliver quality, reliability, and security through the application of Network Reliability Engineering principles – “codify, automate, test, monitor, measure”.

You will accountable for the design, build, and operation of a segment of the MNF Group voice and data networks, including technology roadmaps, lifecycle & capacity management, and network support & operations.

Reporting to the MNF Group Head of Global Networks, you will be part of the Global Networks leadership team, and contribute to technology strategy for MNF. You will work closely with your Global Networks colleagues (other Engineering Managers & Network Architects), Wholesale & Direct Operations teams, and the Global Products team.

Qualifications

What you'll need to succeed as an Engineering Manager - Network Projects:

  • Degree qualified in a Communications, Engineering, or IT based discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience in a network or infrastructure engineering role in a Telco/ISP/Large enterprise
  • 5+ years’ experience in leading a technology team ideally one with mixed skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Good workforce & project management skills – ideally scrum/kanban
  • Broad technical knowledge across voice networking, data networking, and system engineering – with deep technical knowledge of at least one domain
  • Voice Networking
    • Deep technical knowledge of carrier voice networking
    • Deep technical knowledge of SIP based voice systems
    • Strong understanding of TDM voice networking, esp SS7 signalling
    • Familiarity with VoIP principles and technologies
  • Data Networking
    • Deep technical knowledge of MPLS, Layer 3 IP routing (OSPF, BGP), and Layer 2 switching
    • Experience in designing & operating large Networks
    • Experienced with Cisco, Juniper & Arista networking equipment
    • Strong understanding on DWDM and Optical Networking
    • Knowledge of public cloud networking, esp AWS
  • System Engineering
    • Deep technical knowledge of on-premises infrastructure – compute & storage, virtualisation
    • Strong understanding of KVM based hypervisors, and cloud management systems (e.g., Openstack)
    • Strong understanding of Linux Systems (Windows a desirable bonus)
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex technical issue
  • Experience with automation tools e.g., Ansible
  • Experience with programming languages for network automation – esp. Python
  • Team player – good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think outside of the box, and demonstrate strong innovation & problem-solving skills
  • Customer focused attitude
